22nd August 2021
Held traditionally on the Sunday before May Day Bank Holiday the Stanford Hall Classic VW Event is seen by many as the year’s premier classic Volkswagen show but still manages to retain a relaxed family-friendly atmosphere. The show attracts over 10,000 visitors making it one of the largest held in the UK and has taken place annually since the first event in 1976. The emphasis has always been on putting on a great display of classic unmodified Volkswagens of all types and our aim is to offer great value for money, whether it’s in the entry prices or the fees for the trade stands which are regularly around 200 in number.
The show also features a classic judged “Concours d’Elegance” for nearly every type of VW group cars, seen by many as a gold standard within the VW calendar. Also an area of club display cars of special interest is a feature area along with the Split Screen Van Club’s annual convoy consisting of up to 200 of the famous pre -1968 iconic vehicles and a special display by the Historic VW Club featuring early post war and 1950’s Beetles.
On site camping is now a regular feature with camping on both Saturday and Sunday nights possible, this is in an adjoining field with access across the lake on a special walk bridge.
The Leicestershire & Warwickshire VW Owners Club is the driving force behind the event, and although the event usually makes a profit, the main aim is to put on a good day out for all our visitors. Any money we make helps with the Club funds allowing various activities to take place throughout the year and also helps to allow the club to donate to it’s chosen charity, the Air Ambulance.
This year, due to postponement caused by the Pandemic, the event has been re-scheduled to Sunday 22nd August, this of course subject to the national conditions prevailing at the time. Here’s hoping we are able to proceed!
